In the game Escape from Colditz, once a POW player has acquired an item, it seems like the guards can pretty much round all of that player's team up from the inner courtyard and dump them in Solitary. From there, they only get released one at a time, and they still have the items, so relatively few guards can repeatedly keep them locked down.

Escape From Colditz uses beautiful solid wooden pieces. Personally, I would like to ban plastic pieces from all board games! Each piece is colour coded to the nation of POW's that you opt to control. Each player can use up to eight pieces (which is dependent on how many people play the game).

Jul 25, 2009· Re: Escape from Colditz Escape From Colditz was one of my favourite board games as a kid. I got it as a present at Christmas 1973, and could not stop playing it. Quite a tricky game to win, though. I believe it has been re-released in a new form and a slightly different game board.
But more than that, it was also a very strong, very formative attempt to tell a specific narrative with simple mechanics. If you compare this game to other early 1970s games, it emerges as quite an anomaly. Even the work that folks like Charles Roberts or Sid Sackson were doing at that time isn't quite like anything Escape from Colditz attempted.

Nov 19, 2016· I was privileged to receive a copy of Escape from Colditz about a month ago from Osprey Games, a division of Osprey Publishing, who is famous for its series of military history books. I was pleased to be able to finally test play the game with some friends at Broken Sentry Games, a new store in Grand Forks.It was a great time as we navigated the rules and planned our moves.
