A big chunk of the points in the game are wrapped up there, so it simply can't be overlooked. I can see how all the artifacts are attractive, and perhaps that's a viable strategy. But to me it seems very costly. Grab one or two artifacts that you can capitalize on with the publishing board and aim for the grants (money and points!).
